To which codec did you render? DNxHD for example will create a temp file; once the render is finished it will convert it to a .mov file and depending on size and your system it can take a long to do so or even fail. Try renaming the .tmp file to the extension you need.

Thanks.. I should have give more information. I used a Main Concept HD 1080p web codec for mp4. And yes.. renaming worked.. Thank you.
