Can't get AVI render, Pro 12

I used to do a partial edit of multi camera videos, and then render to AVI for lossless combining into other productions where I later add material before and after the multi camera part. I can only seem to render in MPG-2. The render block fades out on most other choices. I'm not working in HD (can't afford to switch over yet)

It sounds like Vegas is broken if it used to work for you.

Try uninstalling Vegas and re-installing. Do the same for Lagarith or whatever lossless AVI codec you were using.

Remember that the AVI codecs are accessed via "Save as Type" set to "Video for Windows". Then press the Custom button to select the codec.

I did find AVI that worked by purring DV AVI in the render search box. I couldn't find the suggested "Save as Type" to select.
Now I'm ready to render the whole project and it will only let me use AVI. When I click on MPEG 2 the render box grays out. How do I get back to it?

I'm confused. Your second post contradicts your first. Can you or can you not render to MPEG2?

What AVI codec did you use to use that you can now no longer find?

How do you plan to use your final output? DVD? Computer? YouTube?

What version of Vegas are you using?

Do you have Show Favorite Only or Match Project Settings checked in your Render Dialog? That could explain why render templates appear to be missing. Make sure those two and unchecked so that you see the full list if templates.
