Can't get signal into Vegas, can anyone help?

Hello

I have Vegas 5 and an Edirol UA-1000 interface with a nice fast custom built PC (P4, 1 GB ram). I can get great sounding audio to play off a Vegas track (an acid loop pasted in) with no problem, but I can't get a track to see the signal from a guitar, and thus record. The guitar is going through a Pod whose outputs are feeding into the UA-1000, and I can hear the guitar live so the UA-1000 is working with it just fine, but when I arm a track and try to record, Vegas does not get the signal that I can hear is there. I have record input set to "stereo"

This is probably relevant: I noticed that when I checked audio device properties in Vegas, it was set to Microsoft Sound Mapper. Since I'm trying to use the UA-1000 for all in/out, that didn't seem right so I then set it to the UA-1000 but it gave me an error message. WTF is happening?

thanks
AP

I too use the UA1000 and have been very happy with it. I am running everything through a mixer though and then running from buss outs of the mixer into the UA1000.

I think the sound mapper driver could be your problem. Didn't you get ASIO drivers with your UA1000? Are you using the UA1000 with any other application, and is that application open at the same time? I use mine with SONAR as well as Vegas and I cannot access the ASIO drivers in Vegas if SONAR is open at the same time. The way I get around that problem is to choose the Windows Classic Wave Drivers in the Vegas properties box when I have SONAR open.

The other solution would be to call EDIROL tech support. They are the most helpful techs I have ever talked with. However, they are not experts on Vegas.
