I'm transferring some very old cassette tapes to my external HDD attached to my laptop. I'm using Sony Vegas 10.0c 64 bit as the recording program. I'm coming out of my cassette deck into a Presonus Firestudio (Channels 1&2 are L&R respectively) and I have Tracks 1 & 2 set up and recording in Vegas just fine. While running the tape I can hear the audio and adjust levels with the Presonus. (Monitor out of the Presonus into an Adcom stereo preamp then to my amp and finally my speakers.) But when I go to play back from Sony Vegas, I don't hear anything even if I plug headphones directly into my laptop. I can choose the option under Tools called Preview in Player and Sound Forge opens up and I can hear what I recorded just fine. I just can't hear it through Vegas.
I'm an old analog guy and if I had a mixer and tape machine setup, I'd be done by now!! All this computer junk just ticks me off because I can't "see" the signal flow. It's all "In the box".
Thanks
