can't import mpeg1

running vv3, can't import mpeg1 clip, though i used to be able to. i have wiped my hard drive, and reinstalled the prog, never got the prompts to register w/ sonicfoundry to validate the necessary plugins. how around that, please? thanks.

Which release of Vegas 3 do you have? I might be remembering my versions wrong, but i seem to recall that the earliest releases of 3 used the Ligos encoder which is no longer available or activatable. The current release uses the MainConcept encoder. If you haven't downloaded 3.0c yet then you probably should. It also includes lots of other enhancements and bug fixes.

yes, thanks, it is updated to 3c. baffling.
when i try to import xvid, which plays on the player in capture mode, it will not, although it has at times but the audio track is way longer than the video track. i have the necessary filters on my system to play these various files, just won't handle them on the timeline.
do later versions (4, now 5) handle these odball compressions? thanks
