Can't import video stream

Hi all,
I've a big problem with Vegas 5: I can't import the video stream of divx avi.
the following message appear: "stream attribute coud not" , but I've already installed the newest divx codec.
Anyone could help me ?

I'm far from being an expert but I'm suspecting that there's several flavours of DivX that need different codecs, so even though you've installed the latest it may not be the right one.
This is just a guess.

DivX has quit offering free access to this, Sony needs to pay them a royalty to allow you to author with it. You can render to it, but can't read it. This changed with DivX 5. Used to be you could use it for free.
