I'm trying to install the 521/64bit update onto Win 7/64. I'm running the installer as administrator. I keep getting "Error writing to file c:\config.msi\143e4254.rbf". But when I check the properties on c:\config.msi it looks like everyone has write permission to that folder.
Yes, downloaded it twice. And generally a corrupted file won't run at all.
I've encountered the FOLDER (not file) \config.msi when installing many other NON-Sony products, so I'm guessing that it is a standard temp folder used by MicroSoft Installers (the acronym for the extension '.msi').
yes 'folder' to be more precise, when i first read your post i thought it was a file, my mistake. Yes its a system hidden folder in the C: root, and yes its probably used for all MSI installers as a temp folder i think.
People have reported downloading Vegas updates in the past only to find they would not install correctly. After a re-download, they worked. So it can happen. However in your case it sounds different.
Somewhere in the back of my mind i read a post where there was some kind of installer software, third party, that handled installs. Its a bit vague, sorry, do you have anything installed like that?
"sfc /scannow" may yield a more meaningful result..... lysdexia lures ko!
however probably wise to google the command so you have some idea what it does.....
Just installed VP11/521 with no problem and opened a few projects successfully. I still don't think I am ready to use it on a routine basis. The Release Notes showed progress, but I've been burned a few too many times to move from VP10.
