Can't install vegas pro 17 because it's 'already installed'

BluePixelDemon wrote on 1/12/2021, 2:22 PM

Instead of uninstalling vegas pro 17 through the windows apps and functions, I deleted the vegas pro folder and everything related to vegas pro in the file explorer. Now I want to install the software again, however the installer says that I already have it installed. When going into windows apps and functions I can see the vegas pro 17 entry, but when I hit uninstall I get an error saying that I don't have the dll required to uninstall the program. Is there any steps I can take to solve this problem?

Specs:

Windows 10, intel core i7-9700K, NVIDIA RTX 3070, 16GB RAM

I do not have a pirated version. According to windows the version is 17.0.452 but I have no way to tell since the software is deleted.

Can you use CCleaner to "delete" the listing for Vegas Pro 17 from the installed programs list and try again?

Note: not "uninstall" but "delete" from within CCleaner.

CCleaner has a registry cleaner as well as the other great tools which 'may' fix the issue, otherwise you have remove registry entries manually. .. Dangerous, if you do not know what you are deleting. There is also VP data in the 'AppData> Roaming and Local folders' which may need to be deleted as well. btw. the AppData folder is a normally hidden system folder

FWIW, 99.9% of the time, I recommend uninstalling using a third-party uninstaller that can remove left-over registry entries and other pertinent data the OS uninstall leaves behind, which is usually the cause of recurring issues.
Revo Uninstall and Geek Uninstall are two uninstallers that have pro and freeware versions. I have been using Revo for a long time.

CCleaner cound't delete vegas pro, but revo uninstall did wonders! I deleted all the registers revo found connected to vegas pro and after that I could install vegas normally. Thanks!
