Perhaps because Audition 1.5 is 32 bit and nine years old?

Point taken.... It is a bit old.... but it does run under Windows 8 on it's own.... just not when launched from Vegas.

In preferences make sure you have these checked: close media files when not active aplication and close audio and midi ports when not the active aplication.

I realise there is a hugh difference between Audition 1.5 & 3.01 but I have 3.01 setup and working fine as my external editor under Win-7 & SVP-12.

Good luck!

You can't launch 32 bit programs from within 64 bit ones.

Vegas Pro 12 is strict 64 bit and Audition is 32 bit. Its true that a 32 bit program might run stand alone but it wont work trying to start it from within VP 12. Its too late now to upgrade Audition. Why not learn to work with forge or one of the open source offerings?
