Can't launch Vegas Pro 20 opencl.dll error

ROBERTIO wrote on 7/27/2023, 8:46 AM

Hello all,

I've read other threads on here about problems with opencl.dll - However, I can't seem to solve this one.

1. I recently bought a new mini computer: Intel Corporation NUC11PABi7, 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz, Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics, 32 GB. Windows 10.

2. I cloned my laptop with Vegas installed and everything worked fine on the new machine - except a problem with glitches while playing some prores 422 LT 4k videos with fast action. Solved by the next step.

3. Yesterday I updated, the Display driver, Bios etc from the official Intel site.

4. Today when I tried to start Vegas, I got the error message (below) a few seconds after the Vegas splash screen appeared.

5. I tried reinstalling Vegas Post 20, but the problem persists.

6. I tried changing the file name of Opencl.dll as someone suggested on here. But no fix.

7. I've submitted a ticket to Magix tech support. But I thought someone with the right knowledge on here might be able to help.

8. I tried deactivating the Iris® Xe Graphics and Vegas launches as normal. However, the iris driver is required to play all prores 422 4k files correctly whether in Vegas or other Windows video players like vlc, quicktime, mpc.

RESOLVED: The problem was that I cloned from a Dell XPS 13 and needed to uninstall the windows and dell display drivers on the new computer.

Thanks for letting us know, windows system errors can be difficult to pinpoint the exact reason for a crash.

Hello,

I also have the same issue, a Mini PC with the Intel Iris Xe graphics and transferred from a Dell Studio XPS.

All I show in the new Mini PC video driver is the Intel Iris driver.

How did you uninstall the Windows and Dell graphics display drivers??

Thanks in advance for your help.

Device manager lets you uninstall drivers for the display adapter. Then download the one you want from Dell or a reference driver from Intel.

Device Manager only shows one driver in the display adapter..the Intel Xe Graphics and none of the previous Dell or any other drivers.

The Intel display driver page indicates the latest version. Also programs uninstall or reinstall for Vegas 18 will come back with error that the required dll file is missing.

Upon trying to open Vegas 18 which worked on the Dell with Nvidia graphics, gives an Opencl.dll error and closes the splash screen.

I managed to uninstall the Nvidia graphics drivers using Programs from Control Panel, unfortunately it did not solve the problem with OpenCL.dll with only the Intel Iris Xe latest driver.

Uninstalled and reinstalled VEGAS 21 Pro, restarted the MiniPC but still getting nowhere.

VEGAS 18 Pro won't even let me un and reinstall itself cause it complains about some missing dll file. I am stuck and really need some good suggestions.

Thanks.

I can't recall additional detailed solutions to my problem. One thing comes to mind is I think I had to tell Vegas which driver to use in the Preferences I/O Raw Processor to use: OpenCL on Intel Iris(R) Xe Graphics - Hardware processor to use: QSV on Intel Iris(R) Xe Graphics.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for writing. My problem is that I cannot open Vegas to the point of getting to the preference menu.

Is there an ini file somewhere for Vegas where one can make changes without the program running?

Or can I copy the OpenCL.dll from somewhere else to a certain directory of Vegas or Windows/System32 folder?

Thanks.

ROBERTIO wrote on 5/4/2024, 5:02 AM

Hi, unfortunately I don't know how to edit the ini file. I'm pretty sure that I resolved the problem by unistalling the dell and windows drivers cloned from the previous installation. Sorry I can't help more.
