Can't load Themes

Slamaxe wrote on 2/8/2005, 8:57 PM
I've been working with DVD Architect for some time and love it but tonight, after I finished adding chapters to a new DVD I went to the themes tab but the program reports "No Themes available". I can go to the Themes subdirectory and launch a theme just fine but I cannot get themes with the project. They're there someplace. Is there something I can toggle to get the themes back... someway to tell the program where the themes are located? an INI file maybe?

Thanks
Ron

Do you have a folder under C:\Program Files\Sony\DVD Architect 2.0
called _Themes? (note the leading underscore)

From that folder you should have folders labled like Movie 1.thm
(folders with a dot thm in the name)

I did notice you need to drag the theme to get the frames and masks to
work.

You might need to delete the _Themes folder and subfolders and then restart DVDA to
rebuild them from the themes folder. (note the leading underscore and
capital T in the folder name to delete)

Thanks RCourtney

I have the _themes folder with the .thm files. I did as you suggested and deleted the _themes folder and started DVDA. It obediently rebuilt the directory. The themes folder was available in the program with all the themes I have. THen I loaded the project and they all disappeared. "No Themes Available" message.

So then I decided to start over. I began a new project, all the themes are available. I added the M2P to the project and all the themes disappeared again. OK... Not good.

I closed DVDA and opened the M2P file in Vegas thinking that the file might have some tick on it. It looked fine. all the chapters seemed to be in place. I closed Vegas after saving the file. I re opened the file in DVDA and all the themes were available!

So it's fixed but I'm not sure what happened.

Your post got me started on the new train so thanks for your help!

Thoughts?

Well...

Back to square one.

I had the themes up and applied my theme. All was good. I saved the project and went on to something else. Came back to the project and the project would not load. I get.... "not a valid project".

I can recreate the project and save it but it will not allow me to open a saved project.

Now I'm getting frustrated.

Are you running version 2.0b?

Slamaxe wrote on 2/9/2005, 3:22 PM
Yep 2.0B

I found the problem.

We run about 1.5TB of storage on the editor. That's broken into standard RAID and external storage. One of the external devices is the "Medea G RAID" where I kept the DVD files. DVDA does not work with a Medea Firewire drive. Once I isolated the problem and moved the files to a USB 2.0 External everything worked fine again. Standard RAID is dedicated to high data rate video material so I don't burn the drives with slow stuff like DVD data.

I tried the drive as a FW400 and a FW800 and DVDA simply won't work with the Medea G RAID. All the other editing gear and software works fine with the MEDEA drive except the DVDA. Even Vegas works fine. Wierd.

I guess it's a bug worth looking at as FW drives become more popular for DV editors. If Sony wants me to test a patch later on I'd be happy to give it a run.

Thanks for your help.
