Can't Monitor Audio Through PC Speakers

I recently purchased a Boss GT-10 Multi-effects pedalboard for my guitar. It has an advanced USB driver that lets you stream audio to your PC. I can arm an audio track and record perfectly in Vegas, but can't get the sound to come out of my speakers while recording. While recording, I can only hear my guitar and the track I am playing along with (in Vegas) through the headphone output of the GT-10, though.

When I go to Preference/Audio Device/Advanced Options, I can't get it to allow monitoring of my recorded sound. Is there some trick to this? I spoke to Tech Support at Boss/Roland, and they say it is probably a Vegas issue. I have tried every combination of options I can think of. Thanks!

To hear it through your PC speakers, it has to go through the audio mixer of your PC -
Your GT-10 will have to provide the driver for that - it is not a Vegas issue ..
Open your audio control panel and see if you have a slider for the GT-10 .. It might be under ' Record ' properties ..

Thanks. I tried looking in there, but don't recall seeing one. It doesn't come with any software, but you can download the advanced USB river from their site, which I did install, though.

There may be some way for Vegas to pass it over to the PC audio input, but I would have to do some digging to see what would make it work..

But it is not a Vegas problem per se..

Maybe Douglas Spotted Eagle ( DSE ) will see this .. If anyone knows how to make this work, it would be him ...

True. Hopefully Douglas (or someone else) will have an idea.

I will play with it some more tonight. When I called Boss support yesterday, they called me back and said it is not designed to come out of the speakers (has to come from the GT-10 headphones), but the guy I spoke with today said he's done it with Sonar Cubase. Vegas is definitely "hearing" the GT-10, but can't seem to play it through the speakers. I've never been stumped by something that seems to simple before.

I was concerned that there might be some weird driver conflict. Like when I was trying to get a webcam to work through AIM and it was telling me it was already in use by another application. I tried everything possible (including hacking into the registry) and finally resorted to reinstalling Windows XP because I read that AOL's only workaround was to downgrade to an old version of AIM!

The feature you need is called Record Input Monitoring but you will only be able to use this feature if your USB device provides ASIO drivers. (I believe the GT-10 does provide ASIO drivers.)

To turn it on, first make sure you are using the ASIO drivers, then click on the record device selector and then choose Input Monitoring and select either On or Auto as shown below. Details are in the Help file and the manual.

Thanks for your help. Yes, it has an ASIO driver, and it was active. I also had the Input Monitoring on. The problem was that I had to make the Audio Device Type the Windows Classic Wave Driver and make the Boss GT-10 the Default Recording Device. But those two things you mentioned gave me some hope and got me going in the right direction!
