Can't open old veg files anymore

I helped my son do a 2-hour movie using Vegas. We finished fall of 2008 and I archived all the veg files and underlying clips and wave files on an external hard drive. Now he wants to make a soundtrack, so I accessed the master veg file on the external hard drive and rendered out just the music track. However, there are a couple places where he wants to change the music some and to do that we need to open the veg file for that particular scene. (In making the master we rendered out each scene from the scene veg and then strung those together in the master.) For some reason, every single scene veg I've tried to open causes Vegas to spontaneously quit -- no error message or anything -- as soon as the file is loaded, or maybe almost loaded, it's hard to tell since it quits so abruptly. I'm pretty sure we did these scenes last summer and fall using version 8, which is what I'm still using, though I've updated to 8.0c. Can anyone suggest a way to try and open these veg files? I can't think what the problem might be and Vegas certainly is giving me no clues.

Never mind -- I figured it out. I realized that in the meantime I had reinstalled Windows but not reinstalled my NeoHD and all the underlying clips were in Cineform AVI so once I reinstalled NeoHD I could open the veg files just fine.
