Can't open Pinnacle MPEG2 file in Vegas

I have Pinnacle DC2000 and capture video into it in Pinnacle MPEG2 format. When I try to import that file into Vegas, I get a message that file format is not supported. I thought that Vegas supports MPEG2. Does anyone know why this is happenning? I can capure in AVI format but would prefer to do it in MPEG2 as my eventual goal is to print a VCD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know why VV won't recognize the Pinnacle format unless you are capturing on one system and have Vegas on another. If this is the case, then the Pinnacle MPEG2 Codec is not loaded in Vegas. In any case, if you plan on editing the footage, you are better off capturing to uncompress avi because MPEG2 is a lossy format and is not easily editing in Vegas.

I am capturing in Pinnacle in Premire 6.0, but I am editing in VV3.0. The reason for that is that VV3 cannot cature from Pinnacle DC2000 board as that board has a proprietary DV in. And in the end I want to burn a VCD , so I thought MPEG2 would be the way to go. Anyway, it sounds to me like I should install the Pinnacle MPEG2 Codec in VV3. But is that possible?
