Can't play NTSC DV rendered AVIs in Media Player

I recently installed VV 3.0c build 128 on my desktop PC Dell P4 1.7 Win 2000 (having previously been using it on my laptop). I captured clips using Scenalyzer and opened them in VV, and completed my projects. I rendered to NTSC DV (Best) which went without a hitch. Except for changing the render to "Best" I believe all other settings are set to their default. However, when I tried to open the AVIs using Windows Media Player (including the Beta 9 which I just installed) I get the following message: "The source filter for this file could not be loaded."

When I try to open the AVIs in TmpgEnc it says the file can't be opened or is unsupported.

I can import the AVIs back into VV and play them OK. I can also open the originally captured clips in Media Player and they play fine.

AVIs rendered previously on my laptop using VV and stored on a firewire drive open and play OK, however, if I import those AVIs into VV and simply render them to another AVI, I can not open them in Media Player or TmpgEnc.

What's happening? Everything worked OK on my laptop (with the exception of a consistently good "print to video", which is why I went to the desktop PC).
