Hi,

You should check the sound settings in the controlpanel. Do you use onboard sound, like realtek etc. or do you have a separate soundcard.

Maybe you could update the soundcard driver too.

I suspect that your soundcard isn't capable of playing audio at the standard DV sample rate of 48k. You might try downloading the free ASIO audio driver, "asio4all" and setting Vegas to use that instead of Sound Mapper.

did you do anything with DirectX lately? That could have something to do with it.

I'm assuming it's only Vegas that causes this error? Do you have it trying to output to the correct spot? I sometimes have errors when I used the direct sound mapper, but you can try that if you haven't already.

I've had this occasionally, both in Vegas and Acid 6, and have always been able to fix by rebooting.

I use an external USB sound card, and never use Microsoft Sound Mapper, so I don't know how this error occurs, but fortunately as I said it has always disappeared on rebooting.
