You can render the file with another codec that will result in much smaller file sizes. To do this go to file>render as>custom>video tab(this is in the bottom left corner)>use the video format drop down list to select one of your available codecs. You may have to do some experimenting with them to see which one will yield an acceptable file size.

thats my problem. i've been doing just what you've suggested for two days and cant get a combination that will produce a small enough file, something just isnt right. i'm turning out 600 meg avi's for 6 minutes of video/audio. any clue as to codecs i can download that might do better? i already downloaded the realg6 encoder, and the windows mpeg encoder, no luck yet.

If you need to output to DV tape, you need to use the NTSC DV avi template, which results in about 228MB per minute. Can't squash any farther.

If you need desktop playback only, consider one of the Windows Media (WMV) templates, such as 512. Good quality, small(er) size.
