Can't render MTS files to mp4 for YouTube

RalphM wrote on 1/31/2015, 1:51 PM
Recording an hour and 15 minute teaching session generates 3 MTS files in my Panasonic GX-7.

Used TXmuxer to join the files - looks good and plays well on the Vegas 10 timeline.

Tried to render to mp4 using MainConcept and Sony encoders, each time I get an unexplained error and resulting file that is always 4.0X GB. Trying to render any one of the MTS file results in the same problem, again with a 4.0X length.

All drives are NTFS.

Any thoughts?

Try rendering your camera original files to xdcam, replace the media on your time line, then try rendering again.

Try the free trial of MS or Pro and see if you have the same issue.

How is the hard drive you are rendering to formatted? FAT32, NTFS, exFAT ?

Are you using GPU acceleration? .. if you are .. try turning it off.

Render drive is NTFS with 315 GB free.

No GPU accelerator - was that even available in V10?

I'm trying the suggestion to render to XDCAM - so far the first MTS file rendered properly.

Good News/Bad News,

The three individual MTS files did render successfully to XDCam files individually.
I put them on the timeline, just butting them together . I get the audio dropouts, but I was shooting double sound so I don't have a sound issue. Set up a render to mp4 for YouTube.

Identical problem - renders for hours, progress meter shows good until the end, then an error with no explanation. File size created is 4.0X GB.

Rats!!!

To me it sounds like something went wrong with the transfer and studying the files to one. Have you tried ingesting the original files with Vegas own device explorer? That should stitch them together nicely if Vegas device explorer can recognize it.

Thanks for the suggestion - will try again tomorrow.

Editing PC is crunching another run at it now. While I doubt it makes a difference, I noticed that the drive with the temp files was very low on free space so I made some room and giving it another try.
