Can't render to DivX

Howdy...

I'm trying to render a file to divx, and am having trouble with the audio. If I deselect audio (so as to just render video) everything works just fine.

However, if I select audio and choose 'mp3 lame', I get an 'error opening codec' when I render, even though I can render to lame mp3 files just fine.

If I select MPEG Layer 3 audio as my audio option, there are 2 issues. 1: There seems to be no bitrate higher than 56k listed, and 2: when I save the profile, it jumps back to Lame MP3. I can't make it stick to the MPEG Layer 3 option.

Can anyone shed light?

Best,

Benjamin

get urself a standalone DivX converter.. jsut trust me on it..

render ourt what u want then render that to DivX.

For the most compatible playbacl options, use DivX 5.2.. and not higher.. most DVD players which support DivX (even DivX HD) will still be able to play this file back without a proble.

Its a shame that DivX hasnt taken off the wya it should (apart from mp4 (NOT h.264) but mp4 avi, as IMO divX is a far cleanrer, more efficient and better looking codec. I can encode divx 7 or 8 times over with minimal loss in quality, compred to MPG2... on top of that colour and conrast retain their luminance and saturation compared to MPG2.. i could go on but i wont bore u..

Yes, exporting outside of Vegas I can do, but since it's obviously SUPPOSED to work from inside Vegas, I was hoping there was a good way to do it... Shucks!

u can encode to Divx within Vegas IF and only if you have teh DivX encoder codecs installed on the system.
Ie u can grab urself a copy of the DivX basic encoder tool (from www.divx.com) , and u can access this in vegas withut any probs...
there are 2 parts to divX, the first is the encoder, the other is the decoder/playback, which WMplayer can access.
One thing though, is that Vegas CANT decode divX video on the timeline (it DOES decode audio though) fnny thing though, is that main concpet main actor (mainconcepts NLE) CAN

shame really..

Howdy...

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I have DiVX on my system, which is why I can use an external app to encode, and I can encode just fine in Vegas if I deselect the 'audio' stream.

I appreciate your reply, but unfortunately, it doesn't address my problem...

Best,

Benjamin
