Can't render to .pcm

theigloo wrote on 10/20/2003, 10:52 PM

I'm trying to render my audio for DVD-A and when I go to
"File" >> "Render As..." there is no .pcm format in the dropdown. Am I missing something.

Furthermore, if I choose AC3, it asks for a serial and if I put in my Vegas code OR my DVD-A code, it says it's not a valid code. Is there a separate code for it?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

you may want to try a fresh install of DVDA, or at the least, try an update to the 'c' version. If you have Vegas 4 and DVDA, AC3 was part of the install. I don't believe it requires a separate serial. There was an issue with this for a short time when ACID came out with AC3 and then it was ported over so that Vegas users could also use AC3, but that all went away with V4.
I'm sure one of the Sony moderators will kick in here, but in the meantime, try uninstalling/reinstalling DVDA.

Thanks for the fast reply, Spot.

The problem exists in Vegas, however. That's where I'm trying to render my high qualitly .wav to .pcm for DVD-A.

Do you think re-installing DVD-A will fix the drop-down in Vegas?

In the Save As Type, use.....Wave (microsoft) *.wav

The description will say
"Render 44,100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo PCM wave file."

Be sure to render as 48Hz, not 44hz.

DVD spec calls for 48Hz pcm audio - (although many authoring programs will automatically upsample to 48Khz if fed a 44khz audio file)
