Can't Repair Vegas 5.0d

jlafferty wrote on 4/2/2005, 5:33 PM
Searched for this one and came up with nothing -- from the Control Panel --> Add/Remove programs in WindowsXP, I no longer have the choice to "Change" Vegas -- that is, the only button present is "Remove".

I'm having problems getting Vegas to open files rendered from previous Vegas install (5.0b) -- these are straight AVI's and HuffYUV files. I re-installed several codecs, including HuffYUV, but still Vegas doesn't recognize the files. Neither does WMP 10, unfortunately, and the autodownload feature for codecs in WMP isn't finding the one I need.

ARRGH.

This is just as one would expect. If your installation is corrupted then do the remove and reinstall.

"One" aside, it's contrary to what I would expect -- from Vegas 3 up to Vegas 5.0b, I could perform a Repair no problem. The option's no longer there -- is it missing for everyone else? No longer there for DVDA 2.0b, either, but still present for Sound Forge 6.0e.

I also tried running the Vegas installer and I'm not sure if I want to allow it to overwrite files, which is unfortunately the first step in the install procedure -- I wanted to click through and see if the Repair option was offered there, but not that bold at the moment.

If you place the Vegas 5 disc in your drive and let Windows recognize it, isn't one of the options to do a Repair?

The only official Vegas CD I have is for version 3, and I even have the pretty box for it too -- been downloading them ever since :(

Ya know, that's funny cause' I just had this happen to me. Sometimes you can repair - sometimes you can't - I just un-install, reboot, re-install - and everything works fine (well except for my mpeg 2 problem - but it looks like I'm the only one...)
