Can't save new project - Read Only or Invalid Path

I just installed Movie Studio Platinum Suite 13 and I am using the program after not using it V12 for about a year.. I cannot create a new project and save it to my C: drive on my Windows 8.1 PC. I get the message "Read Only or Invalid Path - Please Correct it". I can however, open a previously saved project and save it to a new name. Also, I can save a project to another drive, in this case an SD memory card. . The problem also occurs in version 12. I suspect this is a Windows permissions problem, maybe after a windows update, but I am baffled. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you able to save to any location -- say, to your Desktop?

Try running the vms as administrator.

I believe I am running as an administrator in Windows.... what did you mean running as administrator in VMS? Does VMS have different modes??
