I grabbed a little video file from my iPhone and made a cut using Sony Vegas 12. Then I tried to upload the saved file to YouTube but the upload option was greyed out. Next I tried to save the file as an .avi but the file wouldn't play properly on my PC. I tried converting it to other formats acceptable to YouTube but hit a glitch every time I tried to complete the operation or upload the file. I suspect either OS7 or Vegas is encoding the file somehow. I even gave the original file to my son to edit and upload to YouTube from iMovie in his Mac but it hung.

I'm wondering if movie files made in an iPhone cannot be manipulated in DV editing programs. Does Apple want people to buy the iMovie app for the iPhone in order to edit the file inside the OS and not move or convert it?

If none of the above, what am I doing wrong, do you think? Thanks!
