Can't select correct firewire device

UKAndrewC wrote on 5/17/2008, 7:26 AM
Are those who have more than 1 firewire device able to select them individually from the capture program?

I have two Firewire devices (ADVC 110 and JVC DV VCR) connected, they both show up as Microsoft DV Camera and VCR (Windows Explorer shows the correct device names)

I have to turn off the device that I'm not using, then the powered one works as expected

I don't mind having to turn the devices off but wondered if anyone has the same problem or any advice on getting this to work properly?

Thanks

Andrew

I think you can select the capture device in VidCap.
Certainly works as it should with the Preview device, I can select between SDI or a DV device. That said I must admit I've never actually tried it with two DV firewire devices byt anyway have you tried the capture device selection in VidCap.

I've got exactly the same problem.

I have the ADVC100 - as far as I remember, I can connect a DV camera in the front of the ADVC100 with a 4 pin FW and then capture this way.

Sorry, yes I do mean VidCap and yes I can do the same with preview but I still have to turn off the VCR when previewing DV as there is no selection of which device to send video to.

You are supposed to be able to select each device and control it but it doesn't work. Neither does VidCap recognise the device names.

I haven't tried it using the through connector, I'll see if that makes any difference.

At least someone has the same problem so I think I'll report it to SCS unless anyone has a fix.

Thanks
