Can't update to 8.0c

Why can't I update to 8.0c??

I start the install, asks for the location to put the Sony Setup directory then it brings up a msg box that syas Vegas is already installed and I need to remove it before it can install the update? Do I really need to remove/reinstall and lose all the 3rd party plugins??

What gives?? Never saw this before and I have been using Vegas since V3??

Help!!!

IF you are running Vegas 8.0b then 8.0C will overwrite it but preserve all
your settings. I believe it does warn you that it will overwrite the existing version.
What I think it means is that the existing version of Vegas Pro 8
It would not overwrite 7.0 or 6.0 ..

OK .. maybe a false alarm, but... maybe not!
Here's what happened...
1. started update to 8.0c and all looked normal, install was proceeding
2. got msg that it was looking for vegas80_enu.msi, except not in the right directory
3. pointed to the right directory, still complained it couldn't find it - it was there!
4. canceled install and it confirmed cancel and said system was not modified
5. thought download of update was corrupted so re-downloaded
6. started update with new download - that's when it complained it was installed
7. sure enuff - had icon on desktop.
8. clicked on it and now it wanted to register product - duh!
9. went thru' registration and it seems despite all the msgs, 8.0c is installed.

On my laptop, update went exactly as expected.

Would love Sony to comment....

Update...
4. I said I canceled and it said it did - not!

I discovered days later while looking through he registry for an unrelated problem, I say a key called 'Copy of SONY', both under LOCAL_MACHINE and CURRENT_USER.

Seems the cancel DID NOT roll back all. In fact, that is why I was asked to register again. So, suspicious me, I fired up DVDA Pro and sure enuff I was asked to register. I did not!

Painstakingly, I put back from the 'Copy of SONY' the keys and values to the right places (compared to my laptop). When I fired up DVDA, it now did not ask me to register.

So all's well I hope. Time will tell, though so far, VP8.0c and DVDA Pro seem to be fine and healthy.

PS. ForumAdmin - if you see this, it might be worthwhile to investigate the cancel installation/upgrade to see if it can be duplicated. I'm not game.
