Can't Upgrade Vegas Pro 20

eightbit wrote on 4/11/2023, 1:08 AM

I'm not able to update Vegas Pro 20. It hangs on the uninstall.

Here's what I've tried:

  • When I ran the updater from within the program, it got stuck on the uninstall and broke the program (it became no longer launchable).
  • I downloaded the 326 update and installed it and it ran, but it would only run once and after that it would not restart - it just shows up as a background process. When I kill the process and re-launch, the same thing happens. When I try to install using Programs/Features, it hangs when the progress bar gets to the "G" in "VEGAS". When I Cancel the uninstall, it continues to hang and then the program is broken.
  • I reran the original installer: VEGAS_Pro_20.0.0.214_DLV_DE-EN-FR-ES_221013_19-05_4F858A66_20_0_0_214 which worked.
  • When I try to run the the latest update, VEGAS_Pro_20.0.0.370_DLV_DE-EN-FR-ES-BR_230309_02-19_A1F5C96F, it again hangs on the uninstall and breaks the program. I've let it run for 20 minutes  I have to kill it manually to close it -both the app and the process. In the Task Manager it is listed as Vegas Pro (32-bit), but I assume this is a 64 bit program.

Running Win 11 Pro v. 10.0.22000 Build 22000

Help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

During the uninstall hang (i.e. do not close the installer), go into the task manager and in the background processes tab click on any Vegas Pro listing/s and End Task each lisitng. After a short while, the uninstallation process should resume.
