I just finished getting all the shots I need for my next LIVE Electronic show a couple nights ago.
Well my intention was to try something different.
- I recorded every performer with a lot more extra space on the top
- I was hoping to do some effects, and visuals on the top of the performer where there
is more room.
- The only thing I can think of doing is make another video track in vegas and cut out everything at the buttom (where the performer will be) and just do something on top.
- How do I make the two video tracks merge so the effect visuals are on the top of main video but the buttom part of the video where the performer is, is not affected?

Replace track 2 with your effect visuals and track 3 with the main video.

It shows the use of a generated solid color used as a mask, sized and placed with track motion. This mask is used as a parent track on track 1 and the upper part of the screen is a child track on track 2. The main part of the video screen is track 3. Wherever the parent mask is white, the child track will show through. Wherever it is black the other tracks beneath the child will show. Alter the track motion on track 1 to change the hight of the upper track.
