Mostly, I've been running Vegas 11/595 with no problems. Yesterday, I had to output individual left and right YUV uncompressed avi files for import into Premiere & AE for finishing. The right channel rendered with no problems however, the left channel had some black frames in two places. I almost missed seeing one because it was a single frame that occurred at a cut. The other was multiple frames long.
I don't have time to play with this as I have to get this project out the door, but I think the only difference is that as I rendered the left channel, I switched focus to my other monitor to check email.
Another facet of this is that there were two clips out of the entire project that would crash Vegas if I used the Auto-Correct of the 3D Stereoscopic Adjustment tool. I could change any parameter manually without a problem. I noticed that there was a flash of the screen a little before the crash and the progress bar would stop.
All the above leads me to wonder if Vegas is not "locking out" the processes of the GPU, or controlling the virtual machine wherein it is running.
I know I'm not describing this very well, but my understanding is that each program reserves RAM and processor exclusivity so that it can run without interference. I would assume that also applies to the GPU. But perhaps that isn't working properly.
I vaguely remember some mention of allowing Vegas to give up resources if it is not the focus but shouldn't that function be locked out if it's rendering???
Anyway, just some thoughts and observations. Maybe it will help someone.
