Have just gotten into a new project and am using the new Media Bin function in VV4. The only problem (I like the bins) is that the new bins stay sorted in the order that I create them. Is there a way to resort, alphabetically?
Sorry to drag up an old thread Gary (hee-hee), but does anyone know if this has been fixed or if there is indeed no way to move them to where they are alphabetically (or numerically) ordered?
TIA,
Randy
I believe the answer is "no" but the workaround is to manually move the bins around via "sub-bining" (ie, if they're in A, B, C order you can make them C, B, A)
I'm sorry Peter, can you elaborate please. Also, does anyone know of a workaround for all of the 32 folders/sub-folders closing sometimes when I delete something from the timeline?!...the Media Pool bugs are something I'd really like to see fixed in V5!

I never used Media Pool because I always felt it was giving my computer a hard time... It's bad because there's a lot of info into it from what I learned these last 2 days... like source timecode references.
I use wmv 9.0. I also use an autostart application (paid about $29 for it) that autodetects whether or not they have the application to play the program. If not, you tell it which program to run--which can be an installer that you include on the CD.
For menus, I've used PowerPoint (layed out to look like an authoring application) - you've seen it on the GE promo I did, that I saved as a screenshow. Then I include the free PP player (the autostart will load it first if the demo wont run). However, you have Macromedia stuff so probably won't need it.

I realize a lot of people here from the "old school" don't use them and don't want to see Sony waste any time on developing them, but man it just seems to me that they could organize ones work (if you happen to be working with hundreds of clips) so well that it's worth it to at least fix the bugs in it (yes, I've suggested it at the website).

If I'm not mistaken the source timecode is not there because every clip in this particular project was cropped and then "rendered as" so the source info is gone right?
Thanks,
Randy
If you've created bins A, C, B and you want them in the correct order: make C a sub-bin of B (just drag and drop it); then make C a sub bin of the main.
Voila. Correct order.
I believe that Vegas puts the last bin moved last. The trick would be to make your last move a move to main bin "Media Bins".
It's easier to actually do than to explain (for me anyway ;-) )
