Can Vegas import HD-SDI?

Can Vegas import an HD-SDI signal and if so, exactly which card needs to be acquired?

I have a proprietary MPEG-2 device that captures computer screens at 1024x1280 resolution. The "recorder" can output to DVI and a hardware converter will take that to HD-SDI.

From there, can it come into Vegas?

The goal is to render the proprietary MPEG-2, 1280x1024 stream to WMV or Quicktime, holding the 1280x1024 resolution, but allow playback on a normal computer via Windows Media Player or Quicktime Player.

Thanks.

Yes, Vegas can do that.

I can't tell you which card is best. Blackmagic has worked with Sony Vegas since at least version 6, but I think its drivers are funky. Search this board. Aja has been added new with Vegas 7, but I don't know if there are many Vegas/Aja users yet.

You might be able to dump the captured file directly into Vegas, would save a lot of money and give a slight improvement in quality. Sure worth a try.
