I would like to capture and save clips from streaming video and webcam video that I receive over the internet. Can Video Factory be used for this function? What other hardware and/or software do I need to do this? Using Pentium 1 gig processor with 256 mg RAM and 20 gig hard drive and storing on a CD Rom RW.
Well, at least not directly. If you have two computers, you could use one to receive the video stream and install a video card that has NTSC (or PAL) composite or s-video out, connect this to an analog video capture card on the second computer, and capture that way. Everything you see on the screen will be captured though, not just the video stream.
A better choice would be if the video conferencing softare has an option to save the incoming stream. This probably isn't likely. Also keep in mind that *most* video streaming formats are proprietary and aren't editable.
