Can VP9.0 Do Flash?

This is probably a dumb question but I am just starting to design my first ever website and I want it to be MEGA WOW! I was wondering if possible there is a way that Vegas (I just got 9.0) can do any type of Flash? Or is there any way to use them side by side?

I really don't even know what flash is but just thought I would ask.

Ice.

No, Vegas does not create Flash video. You would have to render another format from Vegas (perhaps uncompressed) and run that through your own Flash encoder.

Flash is a pretty broad topic because it's a vector-based drawing tool, an animation tool, a programming tool, a tool to present flash video, etc.

The best Vegas can do for you is generate assets to use in Flash. The most common asset people here are looking for is flash video in an FLV format. Vegas doesn't do that but you can render video in other formats and then use external tools to encode them for flash. My understanding is that current versions of Flash player can use h.264 directly, but I've not done it myself.

Adobe Flash is kind of expensive to buy, especially if you're saying you don't really know what it is. There are other tools around that can deal with playing your movies in the flash player, and there are tools around that can do some fairly complex flash animations. I haven't used them so I'll leave it to others to give you good advice.

Hello i c e,

here is a spot for learning about Flash, getting tutorials in making Flash video, and downloading programs to create Flash... welcome to the open-source world of Flash...

OpenSource ...

If you are talking about flash video simply export as main concept MP4 ( or sony's mp4 codec that's also included with vegas ). Flash player plays those fine.

Then if you want your files to play progressively just run them through this:

I'm assuming the latest version of vegas still doesn't export progressive playing MP4 files, but since I'm still on version 8 I may be wrong.

Other than the fact that Flash plays video, it has nothing in common with Vegas, it's a completely different application, so other than video, no there is nothing you can really do in vegas that's usable in flash. You could, but it wouldn't make any sense since text, titles, effects can be done in flash and files would be much much smaller than if you used image sequences from vegas.

Seriously thanks all. I am always surprised to come to this form an find such quick, accurate and reliable information. Kooodos to SVPVF.

I am getting The Adobe CS4 Suite free from a friend on Monday... exciting to see what I will be able to. Just wanted to know if I should look into how to use along side vegas.. but that doesn't seem possible.

Great info, thanks..

..you can render video in other formats and then use external tools to encode them for flash.
Two programs that convert to flash .flv are MediaCoder, Format Factory and/or SuperVideo Converter. There are many others out there but these seem to work for me.

I mostly use these programs to convert from odd formats including .flv that Vegas can't handle natively via Proxy Stream to an editing format that works in Vegas but haven't actually converted anything to .flv.

as stated above, use vegas to render to mainconcept mp4, run the mp4 file through mp4 faststart to get progressive download.

then, embed the video in a web page using the JW Player, gives you a great deal of control over how the player displays. the user just sees flash video.
