Can you accentuate only one color?

I'm trying to create an effect where only one color is painted to the screen and everything else remains black and white. An example would be a purple flower, or a red shirt, where only those are colorized. You've seen it done with photography a million times, and I'm pretty sure Premiere can do it. Is this possible with Vegas yet? I can't seem to make it work, and I'd really rather not adjust each frame manually in Photoshop.

Thanks,

I absolutely HATE that effect and wonder what the $%*$ the "author" was thinking when he used it. In my opinion nothing SCREAMS amateurish or ruins an otherwise good video more that some mickey-mouse attempt to make most of the video black and while and only a tiny portion color. That's just my opinion of course. <wink>

I think Steven Spielberg would disagree (remember the opening scene of Schindler's List?)

It's quite easy to do. Just put your clip on the track twice, stacked on top of each other. On the top track, chroma key out the color you want in color, then add a black & white filter to the same event.

I don't know... I just think a video or movie, should be either black and white or color. Mixing the two is like mixing oil and water. They don't mix.

Now to go WAY off topic. Apparently 'science' says dogs only see in black and white. How do they know, (prove it) and what about other animals? Something to do with rods and cones or something like that? I said it was off-topic. LOL!

wvg... dogs don't see in black and white. they don't have a sensitivity to all three colors like our eyes do, but that doesn't mean they see the world like a black and white movie. think of turning off the blue color channel in a video. actually I don't know which colors they have... but you get the idea.
