Can you add blank space to a project's timeline?

Hi Everyone,
I am compiling videos from my vacation in Vegas 10. I have a project for each day and in the end, I plan on rendering them, then creating a project out of the renders. I have a few days where I have created the project, but I may want to insert some photos in the middle of it or at the beginning of it. Is there a way to insert time into a project in order to insert more data there? It seems that if I were to add something in the middle, all my fades get messed up after that point, which would make me redo everything. So my question is: Can I add blank space to a project's timeline and add new project data into this space? Thanks!

Can you just take your rendered movie, split it where you want to insert stuff, slide the rest of it over (your rendered movie isn't going to change anything already rendered), and stick your photos in?

Place the cursor where you want to do the insert. Make sure either all tracks are selected (Ctrl-A) or nothing is selected (Shift-Ctrl-A). Click on the Insert menu and choose Time.

Thanks Chien, I'll look into that. I think I tried it but nothing happened, but I'll look into it again. I'm trying to do this all before rendering, and for instance, I have a specific video that will be opening the movie, and will want to put in a title beforehand, so it would be nice to be able to do this without messing up the timeline.

I'm trying to do this all before rendering, ...

Realise that if you render to your final product (say mpg2 for DVD) then if you take that file and put it in a new project .. cut it and add "stuff" at the cut. Then re-render .. Vegas will SMART RENDER the previously rendered footage and only normal render the newly inserted footage. So it will be a lot quicker than the initial render, and (assuming you are rendering to exactly the same file specifications) you will not loose any quality on the Smart Rendered parts.
