Can you automate crossfade time?

I find that I want to have consistant crossfade times (eg, 1.5 seconds) especially when I am doing a slide show.

What I have been doing is creating a selection from the last from of one clip to 1 second 15 fames backwards and then dragging the second clip to snap to the edge of the selection. While this works great, it is rather time consuming.

I guess I want to set up preset crossfade time that is a default.

Is this possible? If not natively possible, could you do this with a script?

Thanks

Is this possible?

Of course. Options > Prefs > Editing. In the "Cut-to-overlap conversion" box, enter the desired time. You can also set the time the image stays on secrren in the "New still image length (seconds):" box.
BTW, this is covered in the manual starting on p. 294 - Setting Preferences.

There's a setting in the EDITING tab in Preferences that allows you to set a number of frames for overlap. Set that how you want it, then drag the pics onto the timeline. It's quite a time saver.

The preset in Options is great for when you have yet to add your media.

Once in your timeline, the best way is to use the Gap Wizard in Excalibur, which let's you set gaps or overlaps of a specified duration to any number of events.
