Can you change a video from THM

I'm trying to add a video clip to my movie. It is a THM and even real player won't play it. I recorded it from my camera. I have been able to view other recordings but for some reason i can't this one. I can't add it to my movie either. I get the sound but that is it. Is there any way to change the kind of file it is to something that vegas supports?

Even if you could import it, it's a thumbnail version, which probably means something like 80x60 resolution at 10fps. You'd hate it. There is another file with the same name but another extension that is the full size version and that's the file you should be using.

when i loaded it on my computer that is what it put it on as. I haven't found it in any other folder. would it be somewhere else on here?

i've not been able to watch this video it wouldn't play so i rendered it as a video for windows avi it will let me watch it but still can't add it. i have tried to drag and drop but it keeps trying to just add the audio still.. am i a little bit closer to figuring this out or not? am i doing anything wrong when trying to add avideo? i've never added video so i'm not sure exactly how to do it i assumed it was the same as adding pictures.

Michelle, rather than continuing 2 threads on the same subject, see my response in your "Adding video clips" thread.

I had the same problem with my Canon A 620 but found a simple solution. The file is captured from the camera in the normal way and should be an AVI file.
There is a free program VirtualDub - open it in this and then save it as an AVI file (not the Old Format AVI file option). You should now be able to import it into MS as normal.
You can get a download of VirtualDub at www.computeractive.co.uk/2162045
Good luck

canon cameras capture two files for each movie. IMG_####.AVI and IMG_####.THM. the avi file is the movie and should be able to be imported into vegas if you have the right codecs. the codec you need is called "motion jpeg".

the thm file is just a jpeg file containing a tiny thumbnail, not the movie. it is mostly useless.

I have been using Canon cameras for several years now - for the time beeing it is two 800is - and as the THM's are useless for editing I always make a search on *.THM and then delete all of them.
