can you convert video files to audio format?

~does anyone know if it's possible to convert AVI or MPEG or WMV (the files that VMS renders to) to standard audio files: WAV, MP3, WMA or CDA? is there a burner out there that can do that?

among other things, i put a broadcast concert on the timeline in VMS and edited out the commercials but of coarse the rendering formats are limited to video. i know i really probably need music studio software but if there is a burner or a way do this, i'd like to know. thanks!

The rendering formats aren't limited to video - you can render to wav (amongst others). I haven't got VMS to hand, but it's in there! Alternatively, apps like VirtualDub can extract audio.

In VMS, go to File; Render As. There are several audio formats in the output file types, including .wav and .mp3.
