Can you help a newbie

Hello All,
I new to the forum and have just purchased Movie Studio 8, I have one question for the moment which I hope some-one can answer.
Is there a way to determine the size of a video project in Gb`s prior to rendering the project.
I have just finished a second project, rendered it and sent it to Architect for a menu, I notice that Architect displays the projects size in gigabytes. The second project was a tad to large to fit onto a single layer disc. I have had to reduce the projects size and redo the rendering and since it takes awhile to render I was hoping there is a way to determine the projects size while still working on it.
My thanks in advance.
Stew

Welcome to the forum.

I suppose there's a formula for that but it would only get you close as there are several variables to consider, video/audio bit rate, menu size/complexity. Generally speaking though, 1 hour of video *should* fit on a DVD at the highest bitrate, 90 minutes with a moderately reduced bitrate and 2-hours with even lower bitrate. It's the bitrate that equates to video quality. 2-hours on a DVD at 6K should look fine.

I never worry about it though. I edit the video and use "Fit to Disc" in DVDAS so I don't have re-render. Using Fit to Disc, DVDAS will use the appropriate bitrate so the video will fit on the DVD.

Msmart's advice is ok.
Be patient with DVDA. It is very powerful, but takes a while to get it right. Make sure you use dvd-rw media in the beginning. If you're not happy with the result, erase the dvd and have another go. It will save a buck....
