I tried this but perhaps I did this wrong. For some reason, it didnt create a new clip.

Is the grouping option only for grouping clips that move around on the timeline or can grouping be used to just join for example, 10 mpegs files into a new file (like TMPEG join option) which is what I believe the orginal poster is interested in.

MPEG-VCR is good for this. It seems that if the MPEG clips all share the same parameters, it only encodes the frames that are absolutely necessary. To close GOPs etc. I assume. If the clips have different parameters you can choose one as a template and it will reencode the others to match. Great tool...

I don't think you can do this in Vegas.

there is a killer app called 'EXCALIBER' which does this and many other cool things. It's a $50 add on but when you see the demo..you'll know it's worth it.
I don't have the www for it but search the forum for excaliber and you'll find it

oh here it is

Pretty sure you can do this with a script either Excalibur

or Tsunami

Maybe Gary Kleiner could chime in and set me straight.

You are thinking of Excalibur's Unsplit Wizard, which will rejoin all the segments of a clip that has been split up...but all from the same original clip.

This thread is about making one clip out of several (i.e. E Pluribus Unimation) without rendering. The answer is no.
