I'm a new user to Vegas and have a basic editing question:
In some cases I want to be able to move an event and have it push other events out to the right. For example, moving a 5-second video event in between two other video events that are butted up to each other, and have the event to the right automatically move out to the right, making space for the 5-second event. Premiere allows for an action like this.
Now in Vegas, it appears the default behavior is that the event I'm moving overlaps the one to the right, immediately assuming a cross-fade. This seems to be the case regardless of whether I have "auto ripple" on or off. (Keep in mind I'm talking about inserting an *event* here, not dragging a clip from the Project Media area). Now while the immediate cross-fade is cool, is there someway I can tell Vegas to do the above action I've described instead, for the times when I want to do it?
I realize a workaround is simply to manually slide the events over with "auto ripple" turned on until there's enough space, then position the new event in between, but I found the automatic action like I described above a real timesaver when I was doing doing event reorganizing in Premiere.
Thanks,
Mickbadal
