Can you put vidcap and veg file on a dvd?

I am cataloging all of my video tapes. For each one I want to;
a) document the scene... time/date/subject, etc.
b) create a dvd for a way to quickly view clips

In the future I want to go back and make dvd's of particular subjects, holidays, etc. It would be nice if I could keep the vidcap and veg file around for future recapture. Instead of keeping it on my hard drive.....
can I put the files under the ts_video or audio directories of the dvd? Would this make the disc unplayable?

It is my understanding that the DVD-video spec says that you can have any files at all on a DVD disk as long as they are in a folder separate from the VIDEO_TS folder.

The veg file is very small, but what do you mean by the "vidcap" files (sorry--I use a different capture program)? Certainly the raw DV video files are much too large, in most cases, to fit on a DVD. DV video eats up about 4GB for every 18 minutes.
