Can you snap to fade edge?

I love the new snapping, but I wish it would also snap to the edge of a fade. If I fade the edges of an event and put a similar event above or below it I would like to easily match the fading on the initial event. It seems to me that this is one thing that the new snap tool does not snap to. Correct me if I'm wrong. If not, I'll post it on the product suggestion link.
Thanks,
Carson

If I fade the edges of an event and put a similar event above .. . then the Fade below is obliterated?

or below it I would like to easily match the fading on the initial event. Isn't this a Crossfade? As yet can't see a benefit?

Please explain the benefits to me?

Carson,
Here's what the old fade does (Vegas 5)
You have a fade in track 1 and you want to match it on an event lined up in track 2.

Click the event on track 1 left of where the fade starts. press Ctrl-Alt-right arrow. This puts the cursor where the fade starts. Press Ctrl-Shift-Alt-right arrow. This selects the fade, making a loop selection. If snapping is enabled, you may now make a fade on track two which will snap to the loop, i.e. the fade on track 1.

In this case ignore keyboard shortcuts mentioned above (useful to know, but slower in this instance).

Just Double Click on the fade it self to select the fade region, then drag your fades on the other events to snap to the fade region.

Good point ibliss.
I am afraid to click near the end of video events because I often hit one of the FX icons. I should disable them I know, but they are handy sometimes.

Thanks everyone.

Ibliss, that is what I do now. I would like to skip the click on edge of fade step and just have it snap. That's why (skipping the click somewhere) the snap improvement was made in the first place I would assume. I must be in the minority wanting it to snap to fade edges or they would have included that as part of the snapping. I'll suggest an option for that, though I feel that Madison wants to keep the little options like that to a minimun to keep the learning curve down.

Okay, i see what you mean! Yes, it would be good to have a snap to fade edge too.

I would only comment that when you have a very short (few milliseconds, or a few frames) then the event edge and fade edge would be very close together. I suppose with different colours this might not be and issue - an option to turn this (snap to fade edge) on and off would be good.

On another note, I'm sure I remember seeing several events being faded at the same time rather than having to fade each individually. Perhaps I am thinking of another bit of software?

Why would you disable FX icon?
I use it, pan/crop and genereated text icons all the time.
I thought that's why they are there.
It never occured to me to disable them.
Workflow prefrence I suppose.

I certainly use pan/crop and text generator all the time. But like so many things in Vegas there are a number of ways to start them. When I want them, of course it is handy to have the icons there. But many times, like when I want to pull in a fade or something, I hit one of the icons by accident. That is when I think I should have disabled them. But I never do it.
I did once, I think. But they came back, probably with an upgrade.

Sherman, TorS said in his original post why he (sometimes) disables them -- because it's easy to accidentally hit them when you're aiming for a fade edge, particular with short events or short fades.

All of the functions accessed by those buttons (pan/crop, FX, generated media) can also be accessed by right-clicking the event. So he doesn't lose the ability to do those things, he just has to take different steps to get them. :)
