cannot capture

just need a little help please. I have vegas 5.0 and an adaptec duo connect card. The card has 3 usb 2.0 and 2 firewire 400 ports. I also have a jvc miniDV and SVHS unit. The unit has a TV turner built into it so that I can capture TV right from the unit. For some reason when I launch vegas and I try to capture from the unit it does not capture anything. The chipset for the adaptec card is texas instrments - the microsoft defaults. I was just wondering if anyone is using this adaptec card and what settings should i make in vegas to capture. Or should i just try another firewire card and which one is reccomended to work well with vegas. I know a lot of stuff but thank you all.

In the vidcap util try disabling Device control.

Basically, if you want to capture but there's no tape (from tv or direct feed of the camera) you need to turn off Device control... Might be another problem you're experiencing...

I also have the JVC deck. It is very strange in how it captures. You must have the correct input selected for the unit to work. If you want to feed VHS through the A/D converter the front line input must be selected and the VHS to DV arrow must be on.

Also, I have found that I experience a lot of frame glitches if I try to capture a camera tape from the JVC. Anything recorded on the JVC captures fine.
