Cannot capture sound during download

I just bought this program.

I have a Pentium 2.5 Ghz with Windows XP. I hooked up my Sony Digital8 camcorder to the computer via the usb port. I ran video capture with the camcorder running to get the avi file. The video came across fine, but I am getting static for sound. The higher I turn the speaker volume, the higher the static. I have the "Capture Video" preference checked.

The camcorder came with the lame Pixela program. But I successfully downloaded an mpeg clip with sound with that program.

Yes, Pixela is one of the lamest programs ever. ;)

Throw away the USB cable and get a firewire cable instead. If you don't have a firewire port in your computer then get one of those too. You should be able to pick up both for less than $40 total. Firewire captures just plain work. USB is very troublesome.

Some PCs have a firewire port installed in the case, but no card! It's worth checking in control panel / system / device manager.
