Cannot complete an MPEG 1 render

I just encountered a strange problem trying to render with Vegas 5. I have an 11 minute clip, basically a picture slide show. I always render either as AVI or MPEG 2 but this time I needed an MPEg 1.

Halfway through, the frame counter stops and when I check the task manager for windows, it says VEGAS is NOT RESPONDING .
Anyone hear of this ? I tried it three times and it stops each time , same place.

Funny thing is, every single picture is same format, size, etc. And it works fine for MPEG2 or AVI. Help !

I wound up having to render as an AVI and then giving it to TMPGenc to render the mpeg 1...Which just doubles my time.

Thanks in advance......

What were your exact MPEG-1 render settings?

I see this same post attached to another thread from eighteen months ago where others were having the same problem. I am using Vegas 5.0b and this week had to do MPEG1 renders for the first time in a long, long time. I did about seven renders and didn't have a problem, but they were only about four minutes long. I can do a longer render to test, if that would help.

You say it stops in the same place. At what time on the timeline does it stop?

[Edit] I just did 14:17 render using the VCD NTSC template and had no problems when using Vegas 5.0b. I suggest you contact Sony tech support by clicking on Support -> Email Support at the top of this screen.

Not having them in front of me, I can't be 100% but I do know I selected CUSTOM, moved the quality to best, moved the quality slider to the highest, for video bitrate I left the default 1,700 CBR and left the audio alone.

The thing is I really did not customize anything except to boost quality slider. I also tried it without that and it still stalled at 53%.
Thanks in advance.

try not selecting VCD...make it MPEG 1 only

Had the EXACT same thing happen at 7% of a 5 minute demo clip. Hung up at same spot each time, "not responding" etc. Using default MPEG 1 settings. Never figured it out.

So this remains an issue. I mean, no matter what settings, it really is irrelavant because it should work. SONY ? Sony you out there ?

Sony you out there ?

This is a user forum which Sony sometimes visits. For something like this, I would strongly suggest you contact Sony through the Email Support option found by clicking on the Support button at the top of this page. If it is a bug, they can help you work through it, and if not, will be able to fix it in a future release.
