Cannot do proper work with Mp4 Files

So this has been an issue for me for a while, however it's gotten to the point with me to where, recording and converting files into AVI has become a bit too much of a chore.

I would rather prefer to record in mp4 to conserve time and space on my hard drive but there is an issue with Movie Studio, at least for me that i have attempted to get around but failed on each turn.

What happens is that when i choose to put an mp4 video into Movie studio, i just get my 2 sections of audio however video is something that's just nonexistent.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, adding codecs, (rather risky) modifications, and i still cannot get mp4 video AND audio available in movie studio.

Can someone please shed some light here before I lose my collective thought.

Well, for one thing, there are hundreds of different types of codecs that can be used in an MP4 file. We have no idea which one you're using. Do a google search for a tool called "mediainfo" and run it on your problem files, as well as a few that have worked and tell us the details you see.

For another thing, working with highly compressed source files leads to a lot of quality loss when you then render to a new compressed file. If quality is important to you then you should be starting off with something better than MP4 to begin with. Video takes a lot of space, and much more of it for good quality. That's something you may just have to adjust to.
