"Cannot initialize scripting engine" error

I've downloaded and installed the .NET update from Microsoft to my Windows 2000 Pro system. However, I still can't run any of the sample .js scripts I've downloaded from the Sonic Foundry website in Vegas 4. I get an error saying "cannot initialize script engine." Is there another piece of software I need to install, or a particular Administrative Service I need to start?

We are working on what we hope will be the fix for this bug. In the
mean time, if possible, you should be able to work around it simply by
running Vegas as a user with administrative privileges.
