Cannot make movie with Divx code

I've been trying to encode a HD movie but when i choose the video format as "Divx 6.8.5" and press Save, i get the error:
"The selected codec does not support the current render settings."

Correct.

Some output formats can't support the wide variety of choices that Vegas allows. Perhaps you've got 1920x1080 selected but that codec only allows 1440x1080. Click the [Custom] tab and make any adjustments necessary to bring the format selections in like with what the codec allows.

Unfortunately i can't tell you what the limitations on that codec are. Perhaps DivX lists them somewhere on their site.

Actually, i'm trying to do a 720p movie which is enough for me but not even following a tutorial i found on YouTube(

didn't help. Tried Xvid and worked, so I'll stick with it.
