As above. I had K-lite installed and have uninstalled it then done a registry clean then re-installed Movie Studio Platinum 13. Still not working. Mediainfo gave me this not sure what half of it means ;).

You need to download and install the Xvid CODEC.

Alright can you give me a good site to get codecs off most of the ones I went too seem like spam. I haven't really downloaded codecs before so im not sure exactly what I'm looking for.

I am having the EXACT SAME problem as him, only difference is I am using the DxTory Codec from DxTory when I am trying to record video games. I don't know what FRAPS uses, but Movie Studio 13 has the exact same problem as the DxTory Codec.

I remember trying out Movie Studio 12 Trial and it supported it just fine, I don't know why they stopped supporting it. Anyway...

Here's what I (and probably the original poster) may have trouble with.

After I record, I have an .avi file. I don't know what a codec is, or how to tell what codec I even have. That's a problem. You are suggesting to get another codec, but how am I to change my DxTory codec to what ever Movie Studio will support? DxTory only supports a few codec's, you CANT add codec's to DxTory. How can I change the codec after the video to support Movie Studio.

Me and the OP are in a similar situation. I believe if you help him, you will help me as well.

To the OP. Only download codecs from their source site.
www.xvid.org
You need a vfw compatible codec.

SFBrother,
Please do a search or ask your question in a separate thread, thanks.
It's confusing to try to answer apples and oranges.

I do have a separate thread. And trying to communicate with Sony in 2 different support emails AND twitter. nothing. I just hope I didn't waste $50

Sorry, but its frustrating when you buy something you expect to work, but your hit in the face first thing with troubleshooting and people not knowing the answer. I will update my post.
