Cannot save Custom MPEG templates

I cannot save any Custom templates for MPEG1 or MPEG2. I can and do access the Custom button and change things around as needed. However, every time I click into the "Template" space, it just drops the drop-box selections down. I literally can't get into the template space to write in a new filename for a custom template.

Also, I do not have a disk-save icon at the top of the dialog box. !!!????

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

I really don't want to have to do a re-install but somethings weird.

I am using Vegas 4.0c and Win98SE.

Any guesses?

Neil Porter

Just a guess, perhaps you're getting, vegas is useing the dialog from some other mainconcept encoder files - using those for video factory for example, which don't have all the settings available.

To avoid a reinstall, if you're not shy of playing around a bit, all the mainconcept stuff is in a cab file that can be opened with something like winzip, located in the vegas 4c setup folder usually copied to your hard drive. Might get away with making sure these files are in place, as well as search for other versions, files with the same name that you might rename.

The vegas mainconcept files should be in the folder: C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Shared Plug-Ins\File Formats\MCMPEG

For this sort of thing I've found the register/unregister dll library utility (adds it to the right click menu) from the xteq web site invaluable.

Just guessing here but have you tried to render a preset.
A pop up reg. routine occurs and then MPeg is active.
